Well my installer showed me a pair of AVI Direct XL components and said he would sell me those at 500

and i must say they sound badass so now im rethinking and i think i may get the avi's

The AVI Direct XL shouldn't go for more than about $200-250 (internet pricing from a shop - vaderspeedandsound.com). But if they sound good to you, then go for it. That is the most important thing.

I'm still going to stick with my vote and say either the Polk or Rainbow sets. If you don't like them you won't have a hard time getting rid of them and making almost all your initial investment back.

Agreed, especially on the germs. Theres limited places to source them from so the commodity holds quite well. Also a little more mainstream that I like are the Kicker SS series, and the Diamond Audio Hex series, even though they are wayyy under your budget if you buy online
