So the time has come for me to get new speakers, seeing as only my driver side door speaker and tweeter work. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Im looking to get 2 pairs of new speakers, and possibly an amp to power them because I doubt my head unit will do much justice to anything that can actually take a few watts.

What are some good 6x8's (or 5x7's possibly) and a 4ch amp to run them off?

I was looking at some rockford R1682's, but if possible I'd like to keep the speakers and amp under $200.

Im not looking for anything to amazing, Im not even planning on having this car for to long but I cant stand having these garbage speakers any longer.

can do 2 sets of bravox cx57d 2 ways $70 each set shipped brand new , as for an amp i have a efx 4 channel hd 4300 for 150 shipped.dont think your gonna get 2 set of decent speakers and an amp for less than 200.anyway these speakers retail for 170 and map is 150 each set .reason for the low price is i buy them direct and they have a dealer special on them now until they are out of stock.so if interested in these you better jump on them soon .

on hifisoundconnection.com you can get kicker KS680's for like, 50 a pair and they rock. then you have a hundred to get you any decent 4ch amp.
Those say minor cosmetic blemishes? Im still kinda leaning towards these RF's unless its just a cheap model. They have slightly better models for like twice the price.

Still need amp recommendations.

Are you looking for component speakers or coaxials? For coaxials there are a few interesting options, such as Alpine Type-R. However, as far as component speakers are concerned, I am not impressed with the selection of 6x8/5x7 speakers. There are the Infinity's. I am not very into them. They never seemed to be like balanced speakers. There are also JL Audio C3/C5. Those are nice, but expensive (>$300). Otherwise, IMO, it's best to get 6.5 components with a 6x8 adapter. The adapter often comes for free with the speakers.

:O those JLs are wayyy to much. I need 2 pairs of speakers. and theres no way Im spending $600+

Not worried if its coaxials or components, as long as its something that can take more than just the head unit power. Trying to keep it low cost cause I dont have a ton of money, but id like something that can get kind of loud, and basically anything will be better than what I have now.

I have a pair of these in my escape and they sounded phenomenal even off of deck power. I have them running of a Sundown 100.4 and they scream. Midbass is really surprising for a coax but the tweet needs a little taming to be enjoyable at higher levels.

If you want a coaxial speaker that can get loud, you can try the new Alpine Type R 6x8 coaxial speaker with neo magnet. This is the best coaxial IMO unless you start looking for speakers that cost >$200. You may need to send a lot of power to it though.

Coaxial and component speakers can get equally loud except in the highs. When a vendor makes a coaxial and component version of the same speaker, the price difference is usually around $50 more. In a coaxial setup, the tweeter is usually pretty far from your ears and more off-axis compared to say factory tweeter locations. Most tweeters drop volume level off-axis, which can be good or bad thing. Some tweeters have too much sound fully on-axis. However, if you can find a nice placement for your tweeters, say in door sails or something similar, this tends to raise the sound stage and make music reproduction a little more realistic.

mbq and boston both make a decent coax to fit.. a 5.25 component will also drop right in as well...
screw the rears just do a good comp set up front on a small 2 channel...
Thanks for that idea... up front is more important, but should I still get something cheaper to run in the back since I have no speakers at all right now?

Whats the main reason for getting some components over coaxials or a oval speaker? Better sound quailty? Will the loudness be effected? (round speaker vs an oval with more area)

Could 6" components possibly fit since its 5x7/6x8?

Ive seen those as well, they are the ones I saw that are almost twice as much as the R1682, but not extremely different. Watt wise, and dB

Well, I also have a speaker spot in my doors near the front of the window for a 2" stock tweeter or something of that size. How does the tweeter position vary from coaxial vs component? If it has to do with the axis, what would make components better? Better tweeters/frequencies in general? ( or that you can place them anywhere)

Those alpines do look nice, but also expensive. Plus the amp.

Thanks for the responses, I'm taking all ideas into consideration.

if you want components i can get then in 5x7 in the bravox but it will cost you more than what you want to spend .a can also get some of the lower end ones for about 45 a set shipped, but they still will hold 50 watts rms ,but sound really nice .these are very nice sq speakers too
