5k setup questions/help

Ok...so I'm currently building a lil civic hatch setup so currently have a zapco 3k pushing a zv4 15, with a 240 amp h/o alt...and one group 31 batt in back, one run of power and ground 1/0 cables front to back, so just curious...if I was to add another 15...replace my 3k amp with a 5k one, or strap two 3ks, what would I need to do? I was thinking atleast build a bank of 4 group 31 batts, possibly one more run of power and ground cables front to back, for a total of 2 runs of power and ground cables or 4 runs total, is another h/o alternator in the spot where my a/c compressor would be doable or recommended?

Please excuse my ignorance

Your 240A alt is fine but yes youll need a bigger battery bank and dual 1/0 runs

Get purpose built batteries and you won't need 4. A single D3100 in the back would work if the starter battery was good.

You might not need 2 runs. I had 6k total with 2 runs, it was overkill.

I wouldn't just want to add batteries if I was park and pounding.

A 240 amp alt isn't gigantic, but I don't think it would be worth the cost of swapping up a size. That's why I always just get the biggest alternator I can fit on my vehicle

I had 250alt and three stinger spv70 on a Rockford 4K slab like 7 years ago and I could rev and demo all day 12.4v and higher... That's why I suggest 3-4 d31 batts... Every system is different.

It is really up up to actually power. You really never know what you are going to need until you test it.

Don't go wasting $1200 on batteries if your 5k is sitting at 4ohm most of the time.

What's your voltage drop now? Anything?

Voltage drop after 30 min to an hour to an hour of full tilt is slight...still hovers between 13-14v

Most of time it stays above 14v of "normal" people listening

Either a second alternator or 4 big batteries would be solid, and likely about the same cost.... depending on who you can find to rig up a second alternator possibly the alternator route would be a bit more money, but save you a couple hundred pounds of lead.

More alternators are more better, but not always possible in every vehicle, unfortunately

How much current will 2/0 gauge power cable be capable of carrying, looking to upgrade/prep my electrical before I even think about going this 5-6k route, can you run 2/0 cables or is it better to double up on 1/0 cable...my little civic is going to hate me

Plus has anybody heard of these new lithium iron phosphate batteries? Expensive as ****, but save you on weight and space for the power density it seems like, I've never seen them in action, only recently heard about them
