5ga wiring kit enough ?

I have the California Profile MSX600, going to feed the woofer at 2 ohm, 410W RMS. The car is a '91 Camaro, not quite sure yet where I'll have the amp mounted, either backseat area, or in the trunk.

Either way ... would the Scosche amplifier wiring kit they have at Walmart be good enough ? The power cable is 5ga nowadays, used to be 4. I do have a set of Monster RCA cables laying around the house, I was wondering though, is it a better deal to buy the 25 dollar Walmart kit or spend 70 bucks on a Monster kit from say Fry's or somewhere ?

Is there really a big difference between 4 and 5ga ? Is 5ga enough for 400W amp ?

And would the power cable be long enough ? That's a small concern of mine

Also, I tried *l* search etc, can some please tell me *l* WHAT exactly is

The Big Three ???? My guess is alternator, and what else ?

What all should I get anyway ? I'd like to keep it cheap, and I believe anything bigger than 4 gauge might be a problem to fit in underneath the plastic panels in my car.

What about power distribution blocks etc ? I have those weird GM side battery terminals.

And I am thinking of eventually running a second amp to run components or something.

**** it up and run 1/0 now, if not you will probably end up having to redo it in the future. Being cheap is no excuse for doing things half-assed. Take a look around and you can find what you need to do it right for not much more.

he's right. i wasted $80+ on a 4 gauge wiring kit. it has been thru 2 cars now. but i have learned i could piece a 1/0 kit together myself for

do it right the first time.

run 1/0 from the battery (fused) to a fused distro block (fused properly of course) which splits into 2 runs of 4 gauge (for both amps) and 4 gauge ground wire as well. also use speaker wire to run a remote lead from the headunit to the amp's turn-on terminal. then a pair of rcas (if you have pre-outs on your hu). maybe another set if you get another amp that has rca inputs.

Well, I ended up getting a 4gauge kit at Fry's, look guys I'm already stretching my budget as it is, by doing the subwoofer deal at all.

One thing that got me wondering though is this, what gauge speaker wire for wiring one 10 inch DVC subwoofer, to run at 2 ohm ? The one in the kit is the clear wire, looks somewhat flimsy, so I bought a set of 12gauge wire as well.

Waste of money on the 12 or what ?

Kit cost me 40 bucks, didn't want to buy a more expensive 4 gauge right now, since this is all I need for now, and I did need an extra set of RCA cables, so I can grab my wife's good ones and hand her these ones *lol* or whichever ones are the better ones.
