Here's the deal. I hope to be purchasing a JL 500/1v2 amp soon, and I'm not sure if my wiring will handle it. Currently I have 4 GA. Running from the battery to a 1/2 Farad Schoche (hey, I got it cheap) cap, then about 6in. Of 4 GA to my distribution block. From there, I have about 4 feet of 8 GA going across the trunk into my Kenwood which is supposed to be running 500wrms (but I really doubt it is). I then have an equal length of 8 running back to the ground distribution block, and another 3 feet or so of 4 GA to the frame. There is also a second amp (4 channel) running off the power distribution block and the cap is grounded to the ground block.
As of now I have had no issues with either of the amps, the voltage rarely drops to 12 and neither of these amps have ever overheated or shut off.
My question is, if I switch to a JL slash 500/1v2 will I encounter any issues? I know that 8 gauge is not enough for 500wrms from the battery, but that's 15 feet or so. I'm only running about 3.5-4.
Also, is 175 a good price for a 500/1v2, or can someone on here beat it?
