5 ohm speakers???

Hey guys,

I have a 3-way set of CDT's (6.5" woofer, midrange and tweet on each side)

and I connected the DMM just for fun on each side near my amp and both left and right sides read around 5 ohms. Is this normal for a 3-way set? Just curious

searched but couldnt find the specs. However, my concern is my amp. Its a 4- channel and I have the componants wired on the "front" setting of the amp. But is it ok to put 5 ohm componants on a 4 channel amp? The specs of the amp show just power for 4 ohm and 2 ohm speakers

What you're measuring is the DCR with the coil at rest - the "nominal" rating is 4 ohms.

lol, yeah of course it's ok. it'll just put out a bit less power then it would at 4 ohms. You could run 13 ohm speakers on your amp and it wouldn't be a problem. Just less power output //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Yeah its the lower ohm loads that will give you trouble

You are attempting to use 3 way components and don't know something simple like the difference between a 5 ohm load and a 4 ohm load? Just saying, not trying to be a dick, try to read about ohms and figure out what they mean in car audio. Basically what it means is that the resistance of your speakers is higher, so the will see slightly less power than the 4 ohm rating on your amp. It's very simple once you figure it out.
