SLOW LOUD AND BANGIN'
Im looking into a 5 channel amp to run my whole system, My question is can i run the 4 channels at 4 ohm and then run the sub channel at 2 ohm? will that work or should i just get a seprate 4 channel amp and sub amp? any help will be appreciated, thanks

yeah you can go 4 ohm on 4 channels and 2 on the sub channel. im not sure if the power rating will be perfectly there but if you want to just get one amp you could probably find a 5 channel that will fit your needs

yeah, i was looking at either a directed 600/5 or a viper 1100.5

i dont have anything special, just some 6.5 in the front and 6x9s in the rear. And a single 15

i have a 6 channel setup. you can do 2ohm + an any channel. sometimes channels 5 and\or 6 (depending on what amp you have) are stable lower than 2ohm because its basically two seperate amps in one case.

for example, the memphis belle ST1300D does 75x4@4ohms and 1100x1@1ohm. you can do two channels @ 2ohm, two channels @4ohm and channel 5 @1ohm.

you can mix and match, not a problem. as long as the amp is stable on that channel at that resistance, go for it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

ok now that i know that will work, should i go with the 5 channel, or a 4 channel and mono amp? will be either directed or viper, or combination of both

eaither is fine. whatever is cheaper and fits you application better.

if you want to go big, your better off splitting it up with a 4 channel and mono, because its eaiser to replace one or the other. if you have a compact area and are planning on a mid-range and mid-power sub, the 5 channels are great. if you want to get some good power from a 5 channel, look for the 75x4+1100x1 memphis amp. the quality of memphis is (imo) greater than that of directed (viper too)

I agree w/req, I personally would go w/a single unit to do it all. Just make sure if you get a 5ch amp. Give it the power it'll need. Don't starve it or you'll be unhappy, so will the amp.

im thinking 4 channel and mono amp now but still debating, because if somthing happens to to either or i can just replace or if i wanna upgrade later

my thing was i wanted somthing classic, and very simple. i have very efficent speakers

SVC 8ohm - 109db\1watt\1meter horns

DVC 2ohm - 94.2db\1watt\1meter subs

SVC 2ohm - 91db\1watt\1meter mids

this means that basically all my speakers need relativly good power to output ratio (low~medium power = medium~high output) . so i was blessed with getting the amp i have now to power everything with a very simple setup.

if you are worried about upgrading, just get two seperate amps.

simple and efficent is why i did it. you need to understand your reason before you buy anything.

I've got a kicker KX700.5 in my truck running two component sets and a pair of 12s.

*****in is all I can say. I would recommend an all-in-one solution to anyone who wants to save space or simplify an install.

im gonna go with the viper 1100.5 for all the reasons you guys suggested, confined space and ease of install. The mids and highs will be fine on the 100x4, and i got a single memphis pr 15 ill give 400 @2 ohm on the sub channel, or if i wanna use both subs ill give them each 300 @ 1 ohm, thanks for all the help and suggestions
