Going to purchase and install 6.5" comps for my 2001 jeep cherokee(not grand.) The doors are meant for 5.25" but will modify the door accordingly. My question is: I have a 5.25" grill built on the door. Do I have to get 6.5" of grill to get the sound into the cabin properly?

Also the grill is strips of plastic and not a traditional wire mesh type of grill. Will those cause acoustical problems?

Please don't make anything "easier" if it's going to hurt the sound.

Thanks!

Here's a pick of the door(this pic will end in 14hrs from ebay lol):
