4ohm sub reading 4.6

yea well i am not sure if i can hear the difference or not but i know how to set my gains but i am wondering about how much power these momo's can handle

150rms per side is what i wanting to give them right now only giving them 135rms

how much do you guys think they can handle, anyone know anyone with alot of ecxperience with polk momo's

You wouldn't be able to hear the difference between 150W and 135W -- the difference would be .45 dB... even less after figuring in power compression.

When measuring the resistance, you are measuring the DC resistance of the coil. DCR should always be lower than the nominal specified impedance of the coil. Our 8ohm coils range from 5.5 to about 7ohm DCR. Our 4ohm can range from 2.5ohm up to about 3.5ohm. Many of the big commercial car audio companies intentionally have higher than normal DCR. Your 4.3 and 4.6ohm DCR drivers are much closer to a 6ohm nominal coil. This means that when you think you are delivering say 300W to the driver, in reality you are only delivering 200W. But most people don't know this. Higher than normal coil resistance is simply a way that you can't deliver as much power and as a result can't burn up the coil as easy. It's a little bit of a safety measure for them.

Regarding the two drivers, 4.3 and 4.6, both are well within the industry "standard" of +/-10% variance. It won't be an audible difference. Our coils are typically within about +/- 3% and we can upon any request match the DCR on multiple drivers identically. I'm not sure if anyone else offers this or not.
