4awg & 8awg usage?

Ok, right now I have a 4awg wire from my battery (was hell to run in the first place)....

currently my equipment consists of a Nakamichi PA-506...so the 4awg ran directly to the amp...

But now I have a PA-1002 on the way, the distro block I have takes a 4 awg and spits out 4 x 8awgs. Is 8awg sufficient enough on a 2 or 3 foot max run?

Also have an EQ on the way...as well...

Should I give the PA506 1 x 8awg, and pa-1002 2 x 8awg and the EQ 1 x 8awg?

keep in mind, the pa506, only the first 4 channels will be used, the sub channels will be turned off.

The EQ only needs 12-14 ga. It's only gonna draw around 1A.
