4 VFL 8's or 2 HD10's On a Smart 3K?

I was talking with my installer today and he likes the idea of 2- American Bass HD10's over 4- VFL8's on a Smart3K. They are going behind the seat of my Dodge stand cab. The box will have about 3.4 cubes after sub and port displacement. Any thoughts?

It's just capability of 10's vs 8's. Spider size, voice coil size, Fs/low notes (easier, generality). Cone area matters, but there's a big difference between the capabilities of most 8's and HD 10's. HD's are one of the best woofers out there in it's class, maybe like the top 5 for it's design style, for it's overall power range. I'm just saying what I would do. I've installed many HD's. Love them. Owned 2 (if you consider the HDC3 is the same woofer). I'd take a HD over a 3510, for myself. At least back in the day when I had both.

I have the depth for either of them. Wedge box 11-¼" bottom to 7-½" top. 23-½" tall.

I understand that, I know the VFL's, I'd still take the HD's. Or I'd take a lot of ~1500 w RMS woofers over the 4 8's. They're just limiting, IMO.

Yes, the HD. The XFL can handle 1,500.
