JUST ME
I really need some help designing my box. I would just get someone to do it, but it has to be exactly a certian size. I set my seat where I wanted it and got these maximum measurments:

Height: 25 3/4"

Top Depth: 10 1/2"

Bottom Depth: 20 1/2"

Width: 47 3/4"

The baffle will be about 27 1/2" high

I am not sure how to tune or port the box because it is at a slope. Its not really steep, just not perfectly square.

I have already cut a couple boards just messing around so I am pretty sure these are gonna be the best bet for what I am doing.

Anybody have any suggestions? I need all the advice I can get.

BTW, this will be going in a 98 Dakota Club Cab (ext. cab) and I haven't actually got the Type-Rs yet, but kinda have heart set on them after reading up on them. Price/Performance cant seem to be beat.

those dimensions give you roughly 11 cubic feet. You could go with a 4.5"x20" port, about 11" deep, across the top of the box with subs firing forward, that gives you around 2.5 cubic feet per sub tuned to 36 hz. I don't know the displacement of the subs so some changes might have to be made.

Its gonna be smaller then that once you take out the wood/sub displacments/port displacement and such..............

But Im goin to bed..........

For a type R 12 to sound really really good you need 3 cubes 40 square in port per sub and tune it around 33-35hz........smaller you lose output. Now if you goin with 4 then you could do 2 per box with 5.5 cubes and 50 square in port and 35 hz of tune....I would never put 4 subs in same box but thats me.

Thanks guys. I think I will start drawing it out with a drawing program. I was kinda hoping it would be ok to use aeroports. I have heard that a single type-r 12 would need a single 6" aeroport to sound right. Would it be ok to use 4 of them in the middle of the subs?

Or would it be better to just divide the box into 2 chambers with 2 subs in each chamber with 2 aeroports in each?

Or are aeroports even worth the hassle? They are just PVC pive right?

Yeah, I was kinda concerned about being so close to the subs as far as sound quality goes. Port noise would just make it more of a worry for me.

I believe I will use one 6" port per sub. Ive heard it from more than one person.

There seems to be a couple questions that keeps getting to me though.

How long will the 6" ports need to be?

Where will I put them? or tune them? Remember that the ports will probably be in the center of the slanted baffle.

I was really wanting to mount my amp on the top of the box. Its 29.5" long so Its almost a lost cause putting it anywhere else. My other amps will be mounted one on each side.

I was thinking about putting one on each side of my amp on top of the box, and 2 in the middle of the box. Or would it be more effecient to put them all together in the middle?

Its worth the money to pay for some good plans on here IMO.

PM iamamp3pimp hell work hard for ya and help out.

He has a hell of a wall in his car with Slot ports so dont rule them out.........cheaper and they work............

Thanks, It just doesnt seem to be a typical box. Its not just something you can throw in a trunk or the back of an suv. I dunno. I guess the way I see it, I will appreciate it more and learn more about it if I do it myself. Its just me.

That is what I might do then. The width of the box is about 3 inches too short to go strait accross with them. I guess I will just have to figure out how to mount the amps somewhere else. It might be worth it to mount them in my bed seems how i have a fiberglass toneau cover.
