4 tens or 2 twelves?

i got myself a bx1605D and i always thought of running two twelves on it but then i got to thinking and i was thinking maybe i would try 4 tens. i like how the tens react and hit faster. but well i get as much bass as i would with two 12's?

i want to build a sealed enclosure for whichever i go with. any sugesstions on which set up i should go with?

also i would like to know of some good subs. i want loud sq. i want to spend about 150 or so per sub if i get tens and about 250 per sub if i go with twelves.

(both prices are not for sure. willing to spend more if the difference in the sub is enough to matter)

myth...

10's don't react or "hit" faster. an 18 of the same model and motor type will be just as fast as a 10 even with the added moving mass.

if you can fit, you'll probably be louder with 4 10's, although if you have the room for 4 10's, you probably have room for 3 12's which would be a close call.

In theory, four 10's would both get louder and have better sound quality than two 12's. However, you'd be looking at more displacement and more money. Also, you say $150/sub for the 10's, $250/sub for 12's - Thats a big gap in price and a big gap in performance so you'd probably be looking at negligable differences.

4 voice coils vs. 2 voice coils means a lot more power handling. (if the subs are the same otherwise)

Four 10's have a lot more surface area, but three 12's have even more.

i want subs that can keep up with

morbid angel "drum check"

i listen to alot of music with bass that fast and some faster. i love my rock and metal but i also want to put in some lil john and pound peoples chests.

is four 10s/three 12's over kill for rock? i can always turn it down with the bass remote.

but as far as room, im set. i could fit in 4 15's. but that is just too much for me. not to mention im in a truck and i can't imagine how that much air pressure in the cabin well feel very good.

it is only a $100 dollar difference.
