4 si mags sealed

why the **** would I want my sub playing above 100hz, no why the fyck would you want that?

Maybe I should have rephrased that, maybe not above 100hz, but out to 100hz with a flat response. You'd be amazed how a properly designed (IMO anyway) driver, with low inductance and good BL/CMS curves can easily play to 100hz and some beyond that. I think Nick said the Mag v4 has good response up to 1000hz.

I've done my testing, and even with my SLS 6.5s, than can play cleanly down to 50hz without stress, with my R12 playing 100hz on down, I noticed ZERO difference moving the SLS from 50hz to 100hz HP.

Why have a midbass play below 100hz when the sub is going to, when properly designed, have more output.

But, I regress, this is how I enjoy my stereo, of course not for everyone but, I love it.

Please do your research, the v4 mags are not recommended to be ran ported
really? shit..

so much shit to choose from on the market it's a ***** to decide //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

Chad's right, the Mag v4's are a sealed-only subwoofer.

Technically you can do whatever you want, you can run them ported, bandpassed, IB'd, etc, but the performance is going to be piss poor. The v4's were designed for sealed-only enclosures. More specifically 1 ft^3 to 1.25 ft^3 enclosures.

And as bass lover said, having a driver play up to, and above, 100 Hz has a lot of advantages. The reason why a subwoofer is able to play above 100 Hz is due to low inductance. Low inductance is the largest aid in transient response (much more so than moving mass), and when you have a clean response up to and above your crossover point you end up with a driver that blends very well. And of course the improved transient response from low inductance helps out a bit as well.

Now, besides the fact that this is TOTALLY off base, and plain untrue, lets look into this a bit.. an improvment on WHAT side? well, the sq? is it better? i didnt think so. is the spl better? definatly not. now, why dont you go ahead and stop trying to post opinions as fact.
From what I've seen, the SQ crowd likes the v4 a lot more than they did the v3. It's holding its own over on DIYMA and EMSQ very well...and it's got some tough competition over there. A member of diyma recently compared the v4 to his Esotar and a few others and said this:

I've done A/B's next to my Iridium, Esotar, and Velodyne. With that being said, I'd really have no problem recommending the Mag. If you want a smoother laid back kind of bass, with a shallow depth and thermal headroom, the Mag certainly can fit that bill. Honestly, it's what the Ultimo should have been.
I take it that you've heard both the v4 and the v3? IMO, the v4 is a huge improvement in the SQ department over the v3. However, the drawback to the improved sound quality, smaller enclosure, shallower mounting depth, and lower power requirements, is the sealed-only application. On this board a sealed-only driver isn't going to go over very well because a lot of people on here love their SPL too much. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif The v4's aren't as loud as the v3's because, well, they can't be ported. Nor will they take 1300+ watts. But neither of the latter dictates a better sounding driver.

*edit* I'm not saying that the v3's weren't good subwoofers, they were really great for moderate-sized ported enclosures and they would handle a lot of power. The 12's were my personal favorite for car use, but I liked (and still use) the 15's for home theater applications.

i'm pretty sure 4 on 4k watts would get loud for a daily

If not, he does now.

4 Mag's on 4k watts would get loud, but that's the limit of their power handling capability in 1 ft^3. If you increase the enclosure volume from 1 ft^3, power handling goes down. You'd be much better off scaling the power down to 800-900 watts and playing it safe. That way you won't have to wonder whether or not you're over-driving the subwoofers. And the difference of 900 vs. 1000 watts is less than a decibel, so you won't notice any difference in output.

If you were to run the four of the Mag v4s in a 4 cubic foot enclosure, on say 2k watts, you would have a relatively loud daily driver on your hands. They might not get as loud as other 12s that can work in ported alignments, but you're going to use probably half the box space with the Mags, and at 250 each, probably save some coin too.

If I were in the market for a new sub, the Mag would easily be #1 or 2 on my short list.

The V4's are very efficent, so they don't take a lot of power to get them moving.

I loved the old ones, well the v3's and the claws, but I am sure 4 of them off 2k will get loud enough for most people.

If all you care about is SPL, then head a different route.......simple as that really.
