4 post battery

just thinking today but is it a good idea to run the alternator battery to one positive post while having the amplifiers wired to the other ?? or should they be put on the same post so that the alternator gives to the amps without running it through the battery first?? or is this bad because the battery could act like a dampner?? or in a 4 post battery are the 2 positve posts all one cast piece that just comes out of the battery in 2 spots??

I use double post batteries and have them hooked up the way your saying with out any troubles. I believe that they are one common post.
