4 ohms or 2 ohms?

I recently bought a new Kicker KX 800.2 and I was looking into purchasing 2 12" cvr's they are 4ohms, but say 2 ohm optional... I am retarded with car audio so I don't understand how a 4 ohm sub could be 2 ohm optional. Here are the specs for that amp. I don't want to run it at 4 ohms with an rms of only 200 watts so I want to be sure that 4 ohms subs with a 2 ohm option can be run at 400 watts to each sub. Or should I run it at 1ohm bridged to each sub? In other words which subs will I get the most power out of. Sorry if I sound like an idiot, but this stuff is really new to me.

RMS Power at 4 ohms - 200 x 2

Freq Response - 20 - 20k Hz

THD/RMS Power - 0.085%

The Signal to Noise Ratio - 95 DB

Amps input Voltage -13.8v

The Peak Power Output - 400 x 2

Power at 2 Ohms 400 x 2

Bridged Power at 4 ohms - 800 x 1

The probably mean you can buy them in two ohs as well. With two 4 ohms subs your only options are to run them at either 2 ohms bridged (amp isnt stable at 2 ohms bridged) or 8 ohms bridged. Or if you don't like those options you can run stereo with an amp on each channel. Run the positive to the positive on the amp and the same for the negative. One sub for each side. you then run each channel at 4 ohms.

That is all you can do with those subs.

I think it is just how you wire them...i helped a friend install the same sub (2 of them) and we did 2 ohm, when it was 2 ohm optional...ohm's are the measure of resistance that the sub gives you. less ohm's=louder when more=cleaner sound...or so i have been told. if you need anything just PM me

The cvr 12's come with either dual 4 ohms coils or dual 2 ohm coils. It depends on what you order. Go to the website and look instead of giving some bullsh*t answer like .0005 ohms.

Thanks for your help so far man. But I was wondering why are the CVR"s listed as 2 ohm optional? When they are 4 ohms...

When you look at kickers site or anyother site that has them for sale in bulk normaly. They will say 2ohm or 4ohm optional or stuff like that. That means when you order the subs you have to tell them that you want them to be 2 or 4ohms. That is how that works out. I hope this cleared it up.

Like if it says

Kicker comp vr 12 dual 4ohm/ 2ohm optional or something that is when you choose what ones u want when you order them. And for that amp to get the most out of it you are going to want dual 2ohm subs. or single 8ohms. That is the best choice for you for max power.

**** so if I already have the 4 ohm subs I should either sell them for 2 ohm subs or just wire them and not have them at full power? Thanks guys I appreciate the help, i'll just have the 4 ohm kickers for a few weeks and see how I like them. If it isn't enough power for me i'll sell'em and get some 2 ohm subs. Will it really be that big of a difference in power and bass? I thought I could just bridge the amp at 4 ohm to both subs giving it 800 watts to both.
