new subs do that sometimes.. unless you can physically determine that the coils are roasting to death.. I wouldn't worry about it.

Nope it's just the smell that makes me think they are roasting. The only way the subs work without the amp going to protection is by wiring them in series to their own channel. I guess i'll just leave them and if they blow ill deal with it then.

I would visit a local Kicker dealer...for a 4 ohm mono load, or 1 ohm mono load, you need two DVC 4's..

You should buy two 2 ohm subs and parallel wire them into 4 ohms bridged.
That is how you will get the most power out of your amp.

two DVC 2's get you 1/2 ohm, 2 ohm or 8 ohm...not 4.
