Ok, I can wire my subs at 4 ohms or 1ohm.....My amp will put out 1200w from 1 through 4 ohms. Is there any difference between the two wiring options other than the current draw?. It should be just as loud at 4 ohms as it is at 1 right?
double the current draw at 1 than 4 also. With my stock electrical 4 seems like the best option. Plus, 600w to each of these 8's should be fine. Its already 200w over rating.the amp is best at 2 ohms but is still more powerful at 1 than 4 but not by much. At 4 you may get 1250-1350 and at 1 you may get 1300-1400.
What amplifier are you using? If it's the same RMS output regardless of the Ohm load the current draw should be the same. It's Ohm's law. You can't have more current draw and not get more watts.
Regarding SQ vs. subwoofer Ohms, you're not going to have worse SQ by running a lower impedance. People mistakenly believe this, mostly because manufacturers state the BS "damping factor" specification.
