4 ohm +8 ohm speaker wiring

so i have a 4 ohm mmats mid and a 8 ohm random tweeter from an old tv. just trying to figure out how to wire a 4 ohm speaker with an 8 ohm speaker to get an impedance the hu will be happy with. im thinking of just wiring them in series to prevent a load to low. but what ohm load would the hu see with that wiring? thanks

note this is just for now, just so he has tunes to listen to while driving, till he decides on tweets and a 4 channel amp to go active.

Not possible. You will be feeding the tweeters frequencies below it's range and will destroy the tweeter.

It will also get 1/2 the power of the midrange.

yeah, i feel retarded. forgot about that. didt think before i posted, too busy trying to figure out the ohm load lol i have a extra 4 ch. amp i can give him, he just needs to buy some wires. then he is set for a minute. thanks

you can wire them in series to present a 12 ohm load to the HU but they will see barely any power do to such a high impedence. best thing to do is wait and tell him to sing for now

With a crossover designed for a 4 ohm mid and a 8 ohm tweet it wouldn't be an issue. The HU would "see" 8 ohms above the crossover point and 4 ohms below it and something in between right around it. Never a low impedance and you'd get adequate power from the HU.

its not worth the trouble to make it work (it can work with a 4ohm crossover, but its not gonna be worth it)

A crossover designed for a set of 4 ohm transducers will not work correctly with an 8 ohm tweeter; The crossover points will be moved.

Crossover point for the tweeter will be shifted and the slope will be off if it isn't a first order crossover. The mid crossover will be fine.
