guys what would yall choice out of the two, diamonds or idmaxs.

Price is really close for me so thats not a deciding factor. Im leaning to towards the diamonds because I read about a lot of idmaxs blowing and ive owned a IDQ15 before and (loved it) blew it within 2 months not abusing it at all. Also nobody and I mean nobody in my area has diamonds. The maxs would save me money on amps though.

Both would be in a ported box tuned to prolly 28 in a explorer. Really looking for SQ with the ability to really have them wang when I need them too.

I haven't decided on amps yet, if I get the diamonds it will either be 4 zapco REF1100.1 or maybe the zapco C2K-4KW, 4 diamond D61000.1 or maybe a memphis mojo. Leaning highly towards the zapco refs.

If i get the idmaxs I would just get 2 of the refs or 2 of the d6s.

Ive read the review on the Icixsound page but that just made it so much hard to choose.

If it was you which would you choose and why? thanks in advance.

If it was me I'd go with the Diamonds. Why? Because after hearing some DAT gear for the first time a couple of years ago I fell in love with it and have been somewhat of a rabid fanboi for them ever since //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Outside of that in my experience DAT's drivers can take some fairly harsh abuse and keep on rockin'. I have no direct experience with any of ID's stuff but if your experience tells you they aren't particularly durable that could certainly be a huge factor in the decision-making process.

Where in Louisiana are you if you don't mind my asking?

im from the lake charles area and will be back there in about a month. right now im in Baton Rouge going to school though. and thanks for the welcome. Ive been lurking for a while and decided to join.

oh and thanks for the input. I really think Im going to go with the diamonds and the zapco refs but wanted to get a little more input before I decided for sure. Also what part of North LA you from?

Cool. Always good to have some more folks from Cajun Country 'round here.

I'm in Shreveport, myself. There are a few members from The Big Easy on the forum, a couple from Baton Rouge (whether natively or b/c of school) and a few more spread randomly throughout the state.

Why only 2 of those amps if you get the 4 IDMAXs?

well from the research i have gathered the maxs only need about 500-750 watts to get to full potential. Plus I have read quite a few reports that the maxs blow in daily setups fairly easy at 1k watts. if i get the max and go with the diamond amps(doubt I will) then i will prolly upgrade to 2 d61500.1s instead of the 1000.1s.

I just dont want to go and blow my sub and 500-750 watts sure as hell isn't to little for a max.

i wouldnt give the maxes less than 700 clean (cant stress clean watts enough had them ported on 600 watss each sounded good but then i threw abt 900 watts each and it made a nice output diffrence) had a pair they are great... four would be amazing never heard the diamonds but i doubt u cud go wrong with either

u could prbaly tune alittle higher too maybe 32 hz

I was giving my IDMAX 800 RMS in a small sealed box and it seemed to want more power.

also because they will be ported I worry that 1k might be too much. i dunno though sh*t. Ill prolly be putting a max in my girls car in a couple months to replace her perfect so maybe I will see then.

i thought the 9.0 is only rated at 1200rms. anyways I want class a/b anyways not d. thats why im leaing towards the reference. truthfully Im gonna need around 4000 rms so I don't think the 9.0 would work.
