4 channel vs. 5 channel?

ok so i have a custom fiberglass box in my roof with (2) 100 rms 6x9's (2) 120 rms ruper tweets and (1) 8" alpine type r subwoofer at Alpine Type R Series 1000W Max 8" Component Car Audio Dual 4 Ohms Sub Woofer | eBay

and im going to have another 4 channel running my 4 speakers in my truck ( which im looking to buy) MONEY IN HAND... i was wondering if using a 5 channel for the 6x9's and super tweeters and sub would be a good idea.... and which 5 channel to look at.

yeah i was just wondering becuase i wanted to know if running 6x9's at the lower frequencies and super tweeters at high frequencies would hurt the amp for the setup

cuz i have a 5 channel fosgate prime and its just getting wayy to hot and distorting at high volumes where it shouldnt be distorting. wandering if its just not strong enough

Sounds like you may not have the xover points set right and your clipping...

all of this is running of of 4 guagee from a second battery ( red top) in the back of the truck. and the sub from the link up there

Sounds like you may not have the xover points set right and your clipping...

so that causes the amp to overheat?

what would you say the frequencies should be set at for the amp if my front stage is the 6x9's and the rear is the super tweeters... i have the 6x9's atm at 60 and the tweeters at 400
