I have 4 6.5 infinity's and 1 sub and was wondering if someone can let me know what I will be loosing if I go with a 4 channel amp vs. a 5 channel amp (i don't have room for two amps (4channel and 1 for sub).
The four channel is: 60 watts RMS x 4 at 4 ohms (90 watts RMS x 4 at 2 ohms)
# 175 watts RMS x 2 in bridged mode (4-ohm stable in bridged mode)
The five channel is: # 70 watts RMS x 4 + 210 watts x 1 at 4 ohms (85 watts RMS x 4 + 420W x 1 at 2 ohms)
# 165 watts RMS x 2 in bridged mode (4-ohm stable in bridged mode)
My speakers are 4 ohm and the sub is 4ohm (power range: 50-150 watts RMS)
My buddy is trying to tell me that with the 4channel, all i will loose is fading front to back, but won't I loose power also? The sub will pull the most and i will loose power to the speakers. Also, won't the sub try and play vocals like the rest of the speakers because of the way it's set up? And when i try to control the bass I will be controling the bass for everything not just the sub....
Any technical insight is greatly appreciated.
