4 channel amp...

I just got a new car, it came with a sony 600W 4 channel amp, and just bough 2 12" subs. I got all the speakers and tweaters hooked up to one channel and just the subs on the other channel. The music will come on and then the green light turns to red on the amps power/protector after about 5 secs. It was working fine, then it just cut off. So i reconnected the ground and the fuses, but it is still doing the same thing. Does anyone have any recommendations for me??

For starters, you need the know the specs on your amp. How many watts is it giving per channel? @ what ohm load? What's the VCC on the speakers? what's the VCC on the tweeters? What's the Voice Coil Configuration on your subs?

Sounds to me like you just wired everything up + to + and - to -. You are gonna melt some wires for sure.

I have no clue about the specs, its only a 600w amp and the subs are 1350w together, how should I wire it?
Your subs are PROBABLY NOT 1350w RMS togethher and if you have no clue about the specs on your amp, then I have NO CLUE on what to tell you as far as wiring it up.

You need the specs on your amp, subs, tweeters and speakers. Come back once you get that info, or at least get the brand and model number for each driver in your setup.

why does it matter so much about the specs... the subs are DEF 1350W but i know with a 600w amp, it isnt pushing that much, but thats the max W
For the same reason that you put a certain type of gas in your car. Everything in the electronics world has a given specification that it operates efficiently at. Given users such as yourself, who have no clue on the wiring, impedance load, current draw and actual output, it's no wonder manufacturers suggest that professional installation is recommended.

EDIT: I know my above comment is gonna make somebody's sig. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rotflol.gif.b453361716769b8110ddefc85ff03cd2.gif

use the sony for the fronts and get something like a 200x2 RMS amp for the subs
Hey, I know your trying to help, but we can't say yes use___. He may have a 125w RMS sub but it's saying 675w max. My point stands, that without the driver(s) info/specification we cannot suggest anything to you, because it could all be wrong.

Im new at this obviously, but im tired of riding around with no music, so cann i disconnect my subs and just listen to the other speakers? or have i ****e d my amp up already
