4 12" Type R's vs. 2 15" hdc3

Always liked working with the R's, and they seem to take the beating. Will be giving each type r around 1000k, or 4k for all 4

and the hdc3's will get 4k total

listen to alot of rap/hip hop, and I'm thinkin the r's will like playin in the low tuning better...an yeah i know many of you think the hdc3s get low great...but imo

I would do the 2 15's. I have experience with both the 12" R's, 15" R's and the 15" HDC3's. A single Type R 15 is about a full dB louder in my truck that 2 12" R's. The HDC315 needs a little more power than a 15" R, but is about .3 - .5 louder.

I used to have 2 15"s off 3kwatts. Now I have 4 12"s off 4kw. I definetly like my 4 12"s better but for some reason my 2 15"s moved alot more air.

don't really care about #'s, but moving more air would be nice, as it seems louder to the ear and is sexy

Im not even sold on the fact that the night shades would be louder than youre coppers. They will handle more power though... Once I reconed my copper coils, I have been able to pound on them all day. I played my system full tilt at many times, on and off for 5 or 6 hours this weekend, and they never once smelled... I have my exile x5 running at 2 ohms on it, which is 2500+ They are definately miles beyond the copper coils. I still say upgrade to the 18s..

yeah I think 2 15" alum recones would be $210.....but to recone to alum 18's would be about $360.....just is tough to spend that much cash when the whole sub is only a lil more cash.

Id go with 4 12" type r's tuned low. My subs hit every hz giving to them from 26hz up to 50hz

4 R's will definately get lower than the HDC3's. Tune the R's loww and enjoy the flex!
