he got them in a 12cube ported box tuned at 40hz...with 2 4000watts memphis amps

Can he do 3 ported, and just have them be a little smaller than spec. Do like 4 cubes for each, and have the port be a slot port firing right up into your back dash. You can customize your back dash so it is perfectly sealed off from the rest of the trunk. That would be insane.!

4 cubes is more than a little smaller than spec. 4 cubes is the recommended size for a 15, approx half the size of an 18's requirements. What do you think that's going to do to the enclosure's alignment, and over all frequency response? Face it, this aint gonna happen with more than 2 of these subs without compomising enclosure volume and over all performance. Even 2 is a stretch, and would take a major install. Its a natural tendency to think throwing more dollars at a system with more speakers, rather than spending more time getting the install right, will somehow compensate for the poor install. It wont.

Like I said before, four of those subs, in the 18" version, in that car...? Its about as rational as buying a rocket engine for it. But in any case, good luck getting what you want out of this system. Just next time... ask this question before you buy the equipment...
