3 way setup

Thinking on re doing my front stage over the winter and have been looking at 3 way setups like the Precision Power P65CS and the Cadence QRS6K3. Anyone have any experience with either set up? Would it be better to just buy raw drivers and make my own 3 way?

Will have all deadening done up front prior to install.

Definitely not scared to get into fiberglassing up some new kick panels or door pods depending on what would sound better. Would like to get a good sounding front stage with some good midbass up front. What would you recommend for amps for a 3 way? Couple 2 channels? Or couple 4 channels?

Open to suggestions.

i'd get two 4 channels for a 3 way active setup. one 4 channel will be bridged to the midbass while the other 4 channel will handle midrange and tweeter.

You'll need an 8 channel sound processor to do things right. I'd just piece together stuff rather than buy a component set.

Fiberglass the 3-4 inch midrange and tweeter onto the A pillar on axis and treat the doors fully and do midbass there.

I was going to use my PPI900x4 for the midrange and tweeters and a ppi 600.2 for the mid bass woofers if I go through with the 3 way setup. The 3" midrange drivers i'm wanting are only 12 watts rms each.

lol but but but... the midbass tho!!! literally when you bridge a 4 channel to a beefy pair midbass in properly treated doors, you literally can drive without subwoofers, the thumps smash your chest pretty well with 450 watts per mid lol.

Well shit. Might have to rethink 3 way myself and just do Dayton 180 mids and Dayton DC28F tweeters. I was really wanting some sweet looking A pillars though lol
its definitely doable man. With the mids and tweets in the A pillar on axis at a perfect angle with no reflections, your time alignment adjustments will be easy as well as your EQ. If they were in the kicks and doors, its a lot more hassle.

Gotcha. Ill keep thinking about it. Thanks.

Thanks for the info guys. Will have to keep thinking on this.

LosIsATool has got me thinking about the 2 way and no tweeters.

If I do decide to go this way would I only need the one 4 channel amp? Would I still need/want the 8 channel DSP?

Yes 1 4 channel. It won’t hurt to go ahead and get 8 channels.

the mounting plate on those tweets are huge!! Id like to keep my tweets in their stock locations if at all possible, but theres no way in h3ll those will fit up in those dash holes. I know that they should be put into a pod on the a pillar, but i dont want to have my audio system be that obvious. Maybe i can look into some gauge mounts for the a pillar placement

Goodluck finding gauge pods for each A pillar, usually you’ll only find driver side pods. Take off your stock A pillar panels and do a little minor ‘glass work.

ill have to strongly consider that. I know itll sound a ton better on the a pillar than upward firing towards the glass
