3-way component suggestions

Somewhat of a newbie here, I have an Alpine PDX-V9 currently powering 1 JL 12w3 in a sealed box that provides perfect bass for my needs. However, I am looking to replace my front speakers which are originally 3 way components with an 8 woofer, 3-4 inch midbass?, and a separate tweeter. Now I know I can easily spend 1500 on a component set which would be awesome if I had a money tree so if I can get some suggestions on quality components that support Hip Hop listening without ear piercing highs and a more reasonable price, I would appreciate it.

I would say under 400, I would like to continue with the 3 separate components being that my car already supports that configuration.

Hertz Energy 6.5" 3-way (ESK163.5). Great speakers, clean, get decently loud.

I did some research and you should have 10" woofers, 3" midrange, 3" center speaker, and 1" tweeters in the front. Upgrading the speakers in this car is no simple task. If you're going to do the speakers then you have to do the amplifiers, and if you're doing the amplifiers that strips out the factory DSP so you might as well do a new DSP. Get what I mean? $400 is not going to cover much.

I am not gutting the existing system, the AMP I currently have has some how been tapped off of the existing factory amp. However they reamp'd the factory front and rear speakers off of the new Alpine amp I purchased to power my sub. Shouldnt this be as simple as choosing new speakers? I know it wouldnt be how high end shops would do it but most of those DSPs do things I really dont have the time to play around with nor the interest to mess with. This is my daily driver, defiantly not for competitions or having a pissing match with my buddies about who's receipt is bigger. At this time, the fades left to right, front to back work fine. I would have to sit in someone's car with a DSP to really hear the value in adding it and justifying the cost. My local shop said the same thing and wanted to add an 800 cost to my install for something that he couldnt say was better than a high end AMP line out converter.

That's pretty messed up...I'm going to pm you with contact information for a shop that isn't very far from you. I just spoke with the sales guy, Luke, and I know this is a small family owned and operated business like the one I work for. Regardless of how much or how little you want to spend on this upgrade, I think at minimum a phone call to a different local shop would be worth your time.

Consider JL Audio C5 3-ways. The midbass is 6.5 inch.

I agree. Some cars come with pretty sophisticated sound systems these days. $400 won't purchase a worthy upgrade in many cases. In a sound system so complicated (3 ways + center channel), I would first start with adding sound processor, ideally with surround sound, so that center channel can continue to be used, and then switch the front stage to running active. At that point you can just buy raw speakers from parts-express.com.
