ok so my girlfriends car was wired up a couple years ago by an installer and one of the subs broke so i took it out, we fixed it but that was 3 months ago and now i cant remember how the wires were wired up...

i called the guy that owned the car before that claims they were wired at 4ohm. they are 3 10' dual 4 ohm subs.

again he claims they were wired to 4ohm.

called the installer and left him a message so im awaiting a call back but i figured i would ask the CA.COM elite!!!

is there anyway i can get 4 ohm from 3 4ohm dvc subs?

i would just wire them to 2 ohm like the diagrams ive looked at online but her amp isnt stable, bridged at 2 ohm its an Alpine MRV-1507

it would have had to been 6ohm or 2 2/3 ohm to work correctly
i know ive stared at those two diagrams saying that on the12volt for an hour but the way the wiring is doesnt match any diagram at all. and i mean these subs have been running for 3 years. they are the 1st gen type r's. a red light on the amp always blinked but they still worked just fine.

the guy that owned the car said his friend who installed them just kept doing mathematical equations on paper until he got to 4 ohms. between the sub in the middle and the sub on the right of the box there are a couple wires that have a positive and neg spliced together! it looks so retarded

like i said id just wire it to 2.67 but it says the amp isnt stable at 2 ohm bridged..

his mathematical equations probably left one sub receiving more power than the other 2....you can wire one series and 2 parallel to get 4ohm, or maybe it is 2 series one parallel....don't feel like doing the math at the moment

power will flow to the least resistance....and running this way will cause problems

either get an amp that can handle it, or run 2 of the 3

i would just run 2 but its a pretty nice fiberglass enclosure thats 1 common chamber. if i only ran 2 itd probably sound like ***

you should be able to run it at 6ohm bridged, but i don't know how much power you would make...
bridged 4ohm is 900wrms....I'll GUESS ~500!?
i mean it never was an intended spl car though to begin with. the guy worked at CC so the car is full of type R speakers, subs, alpine amps and alpine dvd player.

itll probably be louder and sound better than what it did though right? i guess its worth a shot

might as well try it, because the other is not correct, and you will have to buy an amp to get the power you really want
