1. Could this kill your amp??? If you have your amp all wired up and working, and then turn off and undo power wire and reconnect ( battery terminals still connected ) and get sparks when you put wire back in. (the amp was killed just not sure if this is why)

2. Is having your "sensitivity" knob at 75% bad ????...on your amp

3. Is having my Db gain at +5 out of +24 very risky in your opinion???.......on your amp

Have you hooked your amp back up, to see if it works yet man?

And that gain might be a little on the high side, get a hold of a DMM and set it correctly. Dont guess.

And for the dB gain, I am assuming you mean on your HU. That should be set to 0, and then you set the gain. Once the gain is set PROPERLY, you should not turn that HU gain up.

Question 1: You should always disconect the battery source before tickering with the wiring. Could hurt your amp...might not.

Question 2: 75% is not a bad thing, but I wouldn't have mine that high. Depends on your preference and the quality of your equipment. Why would you have it so high?

Question 3: The answer is similar to question 2. I wouldn't have mine that high. Mine is at 0. Do you have low powered equipment? Because if I cranked mine that high it would by overbearing!

1 the amp did quit working . it worked the rest of the night after the whole wire disconect thing but the next day as soon as i started it up it started smoking....

2 i think the sensitivity has to do with the level between your in door speaks with your sub and my inside sound is louder than my amp in the trunk so i turned it up ( the manual says to start at 50% and turn up till distortion is heard then turn down a lil )

3 Ive got a Pionner DEP3700 headunit and 4 gauge wire from my battery to a PowerAccoustik LT480-2 amp into my Infiniti 1030W 10' speaker... (could the rca's that came with my Walmart wiring kit be crappy?? )

Sorry im such a nOOb

Yes, the wiring kit from Walmart can be crappy. They are not high quality kits...you will more than likely have to replace it all after a few years. Not guaranteed to happen, but more likely...you get what you pay for. The kit wouldn't fry your amp though. Sounds like your amp is fried because you were messing with the wiring without the battery terminal disconnected.

LOL...not sure what's BS. Maybe he's the type of guy who spends a fortune on amps, speakers and HU's, and connects it all with shit wire. Makes a lot of sense doesn't it? I guess Stinger and Monster Cable are full of BS too. And all the physics behind electricity to support different grades of wire is non-sense. I think I will wire my dryer with 22 guage wire - After all, wire is wire!

so what should i do cjjackson?? should i turn my Db gain down to 0 even tho that makes it quiet compared to the door speaks ??

and my manual said to start at 50% on my level or "sensitivity" knob so what do you think i should do on that????

and is my "High Performance WalMart Kit" ok ???? the girl at circuit city said the kits at walmart for $30 were as good as the one she had for $60
