3 JL W312's HELP!

Yeah, they are lacking in the looks dept times like 10.Gotta love the hemi though. Im leasing hte car cuz my dad works for dodge, and there insurance is payed for by dodge. So its gonna be affordable, and i THINK i can get my 3 12's in the back, wut do u think? Do u think i can go ported with 3 12's in the back? i could care less about the 3rd row btw. How much does a box cost to make? and where would i find specs to build my box to, i have never built a box before, and really dont wanna mess up the first time around.

Thanks, Mike

Bcarpenter, are yours w3's? How do they sound in ur durango? I am getting a lease 05 durango, so im sure it is similar. What amp do you run, and would it be too much for my older style subs?

(watch the forum members jump on this like flies on sh*t)

my audiobahn a8002t was extremely cheap but works very good at pushing the three subs. the problem is that its only 4 ohm stable. the a8000t (same thing, same price, but one channel) is 1 and 4 ohm stable i think. its 800 rms. maybe you'd like that.

the older w3s are rated at 250 rms, so 750 rms altogether. you'll be sorry if you but 1200 watts continuously to those subs. i would go with a 800-900 rms amp.

beat me to it, yeah you will be sorry if you run 1000-1200 to those. They won't be brand new for long. They are great subs and perform wonderfuly at 250rms each. find you a nice 800watt amp and slap it to them.

are the dual 4ohm, or 6ohm???

the are dual 2 ohm couldnt get the dual 4 ohm, they only had one of those left. So what brands should i be looking at for amps? Some people say rockfordfosgate has good amps, but all the shit ive heard that people have around here sounds terrible.

that 1200 would be fine unless you were planning on being a volume master. i have seen the old school jl's run off more than double their rated power just as long as you dont get too crazy youll have your cake and eat it to when it comes time you want bigger better ......least you'll have the amp

Yeah, I cant complain about the Audiobahn amps Ive used and seen used, but I bet you can find better for the price if you look around. If you cant find one around 800W at 1 ohm, Getting something like an Orion 1200D or Viper 1200.1 would be fine. Both will be about 285 shipped to you. As long as you keep your gain down you will be fine. I have my 1200W amp pushing my 6x9's right now because my sub blew, just started with gains all the way down then turned them up till speakers started to distort and turned em back a bit. Also, a bigger amp will be useful if you ever want to go bigger, and if your anything like most of the people here, you will. Also, I saw you say something about the Volfenhag amp, Don't do it. Its as simple as that.

alright tight, so i should be looking at the Orion 1200D, or the Viper 1200. Another thing i was wondering, is should i build a ported box, or a sealed? I mostly listen to rap, but when i do listen to rock i will jus turn the subs down.....WHat all is needed when installing a system, would an amp kit be everything i need as far as wires?
