2nd battery under hood

Ok so I am going to try and get my 2nd battery out of the back and under my hood soon. My question is would it perform better if I connect them with 2 power cables one to + and the other to - than if I just ground the 2nd to the frame? I'd rather ground to the other side of the engine bay to use less power cable but a lot of people think it performs better with just 2 cables what do you guys think?

I'm thinking grounding the 2nd to the frame also would technically be doubling up so it would be better?
