What would cause static?

Ok so my last post was wrong, I don't have a whining noise I have static. Its not loud but noticable. I can turn the volume all the way down and hear it. Its on music and my aux. I don't hear it with the car off. Anyone have any ideas what it could be?

Its for my GTO that I had the original AM radio modified to be AM/FM with aux in. So no CDs or drive. I get it using my phone aux too. Didn't have this problem with the kicker amps that were just replaced with the Xtant. I was using 8ga for the kickers too, now 4ga.

If it was my RCA's thou then why didn't I get it with the Kicker amps? I know the xtant is a better quality amp. Unless the better quality is what is bringing the noise out...

I'm really not sure. I think mine also might be the internal grounding of the rcas behind my head unit. I'm assuming your rcas are ran on the opposite side of the car from your power wire?

No, but I removed the seats and layed some audio technix's down on the floor to help heat issues. There near each other but about 10" apart running under the passenger seat and the rear bench seat.

Do you get the static when nothing is playing? What preout voltage is your headunit? Power wire and speaker wire separated?

EDIT: Post #5,000...woohoo! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/boink.gif.91933e72f927f2cefc79aff02573090c.gif
