When putting a second battery in the trunk, do you have to ground it to the battery under the hood or onto the frame of the vehicle?

Run power from battery to battery then ground rear battery to frame in back

from the front battery would be the best ground. if you are unable to do it then the frame would be second best

you are absolutely right. cause grounding at the source of power isnt a good idea.

Ive seen this play out over and over and argue all the time..ive seen many people add negative runs from front to back and gain .1 in voltage ...pointless and im talking pretty high power setups

as have i. im not a noob and for the best place of ground is at the source of power. grounding to the frame can POSSIBLY have more chances of having engine noise through ground loop. but to each their own. i will continue to run my 4 runs of negative to my rear 4 batteries. i will go with what i know and have seen proven works over something that doesnt

there is a reason that the street max guys in dbdrag will run 20 runs from the front to the back with their 1 battery in back and 30k+ and able to put up huge numbers,

Yea just a waste of wire and time ...for minimal voltage gains and nuthing on the meter ..theres other ppl who beleive the same thing i cant think of whoo off the bat..but ive never ever had any noise issue ..so ill stick with what works

Most ppl i know who added neg runs with no advantage turned those runs into power runs

Just trying to help the op out not worried abt national champz..chances are if hes asking about wiring a second battery he doesnt have a ungodly amount of power to justify neg runs understand?

didnt name drop there honey. just saying its proven that it works. if a ton of people who are putting up big numbers with minimal electricity then obviously they are doing something. i personally dont compete in street max. i do ss1-2 and bassrace. and same thing. ton of guys running a ton of wire. why cause it works and helps stabalize the voltage more.

now in OPs case will it make a difference, probably not. but as far as the BEST grounding spot the front battery would be the best, a good grounding spot would be the frame

Yea for me its just not smart not gona run 40ft of extra wire for .1 at full tilt...but if thats what u gota do to stabilize voltage i understand
