I was helping a friend with his car audio install a little while ago , and he asked me a question that just FLOORED ME !!! Under his hood he has three power wires that come together at a single place. They don't need fused there , so we went around looking for something like a Stinger T-Block ...... Finding that NO dealers had anything like that at all , my friend suddenly said to me " The best connection possible would be wire to wire correct " ? I told him yes of course. He then said " Why don't we just strip one inch of jacket off all three wires , place the sripped wires side by side , and the tighten a hose clamp tighter than hell around them and tape the whole thing up with electrical tape " ?

My mouth dropped open , cause I have never even heard or thought of this before. electrical tape slips and gets gooey with heat.. in an underhood situation, that's not such a smart idea.

I've seen that done before. It does work, but the electrical tape is a horrible mess. If you have to do it, use high-temp tape, at least SOMETHING that won't make an insane mess later on.

Now that is thinking outside the box. Waaaay outside. But if you had some weather proofing rubber tape I see no real reason that it would be unsafe at all.
