I just bought a Iraggi 220a amputator series alt. At full tilt, I still see voltage drops down to around 10-11v. Now my question is, is it because I am only running 1 stock battery? Would adding a second solve my problems? I figured with 175a at idle speed, I would more than cover what my stock battery wasnt supplying. Maybe im wrong?

This is what everyone fails to realize. H.O. alternators put out very, very little at idle. Rev that ***** up to 1500-2k rpm's and see what happens.

have someone rev it to 2k rpm while you use your DMM to check ur drops.

although your running 3200watts, 10-11 still seems too low for an alty that does 175 at idle

Also make sure all your connections are good and clean. Excessive resistance in the circuit would cause excessive voltage drop under load also.
yeah especially with a bad ground, not getting the power back to the battery

Should've got a bigger alt....I only have about 2000watts and I'm still seeing 14.3volts at my amps with them all the way up...I have done the big 3 and only have a Red Top under the hood with the alt. in my sig. (which is also 175amp @ idle)

$500 is not unreasonable, but just know about alternator shopping: There are two numbers that matter: The amp output at or near idle (what's it...
