Does anyone use those FM transmitters for ipod?

I used to use one for XM and it sucked ***. There is nothing integrated for my '06 Subaru and I'm not looking to tear up the dash for a HU(integrated climate control).

Looks like the FM transmitter is my only option. Any suggestions?

There's where my problem lies, no aux. 1 of the reasons there is no aftermarket solution either.

my buddy has a Belkin for his ipod and transmits it over the 88.x or something station, works just fine for him

I'm assuming no tape player either.

But the wireless transmitters for the Ipod ****. Really, they are awful. I get customers at BB coming back to me and saying "theres so much **** static in these things" i simply chuckle and try to help them with something different.

don't use the wireless transmitter they really ****...the ones using factory antenna cables work the best

Thats what I'm looking for, like the old add-on cd changers.

Had one, had static. Have an Alpine 9883 with direct connection now, still getting static. It sometimes goes away if I touch the button while the music is playing then comes back in a few seconds. I actually can't figure out which background hiss was worse because I don't remember the noise being as bad when I picked the right station for my transmitter. I've heard some of the background noise you get with IPOD connections depends on the type of file you create when you download a song, but haven't seen detailed explanations of how to overcome the problem. Just realize though, you may still be dealing with background static even if you find something with a direct connection.

Believe that you would want something along those lines to hook up directly to your vehicles anteanna if you use a modulator. There is also this company called iSimple which will allow you to hook up an iPod as if it were a cd changer, however I don't believe that they make a solution for suburaus at the moment. Last option I could think of and probably your best bet would be one of these guys or similar:

That will give you a 3 ch loc so you can later add amps and such and an aux in to hook up the iPod.

eharri3 if you are getting static through a direct connection it is either the song you are listening to and it's poor recording quality or if all of your songs have static then the install is messed up. Maybe a connector on the cable is broken or something? But you should have no static or interference through a direct connection.
