2010 Ford Taurus SHO to start at $37,995!

They did their research... The Taurus is the number one selling car of all time, there are more of them on the road than any other vehicle. They (temporarily) canned the whole Taurus platform and replaced it with two other vehicles, one slightly larger, the 500, and one slightly smaller, mighta been the freestyle I cant remember. Neither of those cars were as succesful, they rebadged the 500 as the Taurus, and Boom, it started selling again.
All I know is my personal experience. I test drove a 500 before I knew anything about it. I really liked the room, and yeah I liked the style of it. I thought it was a great improvement over the Rent-a-Taurus.

What I did not like was that the engine seemed to be underpowered and it just was not smooth. I went home, did a quick search to see waht others were saying and discovered that the engine was the old Taurus engine.

The next year they went with a different engine, but at the same time went back to the Taurus engine. So, I don't know whether the sales increased because of a name change or the fact they got rid of the Taurus engine. I just thought people would prefer not to have a brand name associated with the old Taurus, but you can't account for stupidity.

Fords interior is improving greatly.. Gm could really take some notes on that.. After I saw the new mustangs interior, I was impressed with the improvements. No plastic, brushed aluminum on the dash, ect..

As for the sho, it is very pricey, but it looks like it will do well against the 300c, charger, g8, and ect.. awd 365hp, thats pretty good power there... It will do well against the cars I listed, and will no doubt have better interior... I would have rather seen a v8, but we will see what this thing can do. Now for some numbers..

Like the look of it and have been in both the Taurus Limited and TaurusX, both which were nice. And I am all for the big cars having a big family.
And I have nothing but good things with Ford, now Chevy and Chrysler, not so much........

They do need to bring the tag down to what the current Taurus sells right now and sell the regular Taurus under 20k and they would do much better IMO.
I agree with you for once.. Price tag needs to come down, and I think it will..

I don't really get what people have against the Taurus engine I have seen far more Taurus's where the ****** went out before the engine. The car as a whole is crap imo, but the engine was probably the best part of the car.

What really makes me not want it, or any new car for that matter is tire pressure monitoring systems. Schrader lobbied congress to pass legislation to require TPMS on all new cars. The sensors are part of the valve stem and have a non replaceable battery with a life expectancy of four years. A new sensor costs around $250 with no markup, you will need four or five (depending on if the spare has one) You will also have to have the TPMS reset every time you rotate your tires.

I still can't believe Ford went from the name 500 to Tuarus. Yeah, the name Taurus is well recognized, as the bottom of the barrel rental fleet vehicle.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
Stupid *** Ford. I think the reason that the 500 did not sell well that one year was because it was too associated with the Tauras name -- people would get interested, hear that the car had the Tauras engine, and then run away.
Wat...................I see, you changed your mind after others chimmed in. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

I like it it's got theta futuristic look. But I would spend my 38k better though. Maybe 28k I could see that
Like I said, sell the SHO for 25k, maybe 27k and their regular Taurus's under 20 and they would do much better.

It makes me sick how many Americans have been brainwashed to believe that any american car is crap. Look it up, Mercedes has one of the worst reliability ratings of any major manufacturer. My parents have owned many and still have one, nice car, but not some kind of magic wonder. Look up the # on the FJ Cruiser and Scions.....yeah Toyota isn't perfect either.
As for the looks of that car....it looks great. All I need to do is go into the "pics of your ride" thread to know that 90% of you have NO TASTE.

AS for the name.....who gives a fuck.

Chevy did a good job with the new Malibu and this is a good step for Ford..... both those cars have miles more style than any Camry ever did.

Why must everyone pick sides? I'd buy an American car from any manufacturer as long as it looked good to me and had the performance that fit my needs/desires.
Best post in here next to the Hoss.

The pricing is way off on that. I always liked the sho but not for 38k. If that was a hybrid maybe but there are too many great cars at this price
What is way off to you? I don't think they should slash it in half like Bones said, but would sell like hotcakes if it was around 25k. Hell their regular ones sell for that, but they would make out more if they dropped it some. They also do a bunch of incentives on the regular Taurus. I believe it was like 2500 off, then an auto show incentive, then a customer incentive if you are a returning customer. So like over 5k off, which would put it around 20k, which is where the regular ones should be at.

You stupid fvck, you quoted my first post in this thread and said that I had "changed my mind." I don't know what they taught you in special ed, but in order for that post to show that I have changed my mind, you would need to show that I previously expressed a contrary opinion.

You don't need to keep proving what a moron you are, we get it already.

Isn't this the top of the line model? Obviously all Tauruses aren't going to be 37k and it hasn't even hit the market yet so we really have no idea what the price will be. Besides, you never pay sticker price anyways.

I keep giggling IRL because american car makers have no common sense! Who the hell is going to spend 37k on a Taurus right now? They should be concentrating on their economy cars & trucks and dropping bullshit like this. Even if I had 37k to just throw away on a junk ford, I would probably take a Mustang over a Taurus.

That must be a very recent change. I have always like the exterior styling of the Mustangs that were produced after they went back to a more retro look. However, I have only been inside one and was struck by how cheap the interior was. That car would have been produced at least two years ago, so maybe they changed it since. They dam sure needed to.
