2010 Ford Taurus SHO to start at $37,995!

I keep giggling IRL because american car makers have no common sense! Who the hell is going to spend 37k on a Taurus right now? They should be concentrating on their economy cars & trucks and dropping bullshit like this. Even if I had 37k to just throw away on a junk ford, I would probably take a Mustang over a Taurus.
They have cheaper versions of the Taurus. When you say junk, is that the ignorance or bias talking? because Ford has surpassed Toyota and Honda in initial quality ratings and received some of the highest safety ratings in the industry.

Maybe the high price tag comes with better quality? If people come to find that that is the case I'm sure no one will have a problem paying top dollar for a good quality vehicle and a high safety rating.

My last 5-6 cars have been Japanese and the other day when I was shopping I was shocked at how the roles have switched. I was looking at a truck at first but then thought better of it because my wife is pregnant with our second child and we needed more room. I loooked and the Highlander and the Honda Pilot., and both were nice cars but the price tag with any options was bordering on 40k also the third row seat in both was so small my 3 year old daughter could hardly fit. I then went to the Ford dealer and looked at the Flex and the styling was different but once I got into the car I realized I had a winner. The interior was very nice and the space was huge compared the the other cars, also the Flex had better mpg and more horsepower than the other 2 cars I was interested in. Ford also has the sync system which to me people need to check out to believe how amazing it really is( imagine speaking into a car and it sending text messages for you). Toyota and Honda would both charge around 3 grand for a technology package which is just handsfree bluetooth calling, none of the other stuff the sync does. Oh and the best part I got the Flex out the door with the luxury option for 27 k about 10 k cheaper than the other 2 .

My brother in law has a 2009 F150 King Ranch with the sync and it is tits. IMO Ford's whole navigation system is win.

Who cares? This thread is specifically about the new Taurus SHO. If you want to compare Ford vs Honda/Toyota, make your own thread.

And could I please get a link to the Taurus's safety ratings? I'd love to see the comparison.

It looks good, but with the economy the way it is I don't see this one doing to well with that price tag. The new Maxima is up there as well in price and i feel as though they lost their d@mn minds charging that much for a midsized sedan.

Personally I would wait for a 2nd or 3rd gen to come out down the road, 1st gen with turbo is going to have some serious problems down the road IMHO.

no this thread turned into its american cars **** thread. I don't want to make a thread of this vs that because I buy a car after I check it out and test , and am not a brainwashed little shit believing something is better than another on brand name alone.

Are people not understanding this isn't the starting MSRP for a Taurus? A base Taurus will most likely start at 20k. I doubt Ford is hanging their hat on this car nor expect it to be a big mover. I believe this is an effort to change the Taurus image.

I understand completely, I was comparing the top of the line model and today's economy. I know there will be a base model, but who the hell doesn't want a twin turbo car?

It makes me sick how many Americans have been brainwashed to believe that any american car is crap. Look it up, Mercedes has one of the worst reliability ratings of any major manufacturer. My parents have owned many and still have one, nice car, but not some kind of magic wonder. Look up the # on the FJ Cruiser and Scions.....yeah Toyota isn't perfect either.
As for the looks of that car....it looks great. All I need to do is go into the "pics of your ride" thread to know that 90% of you have NO TASTE.

AS for the name.....who gives a fuck.

Chevy did a good job with the new Malibu and this is a good step for Ford..... both those cars have miles more style than any Camry ever did.

Why must everyone pick sides? I'd buy an American car from any manufacturer as long as it looked good to me and had the performance that fit my needs/desires.
im with you dude, i know half these dudes hatin on this car probly drive an oldsmobile, it kinda sickens me to see people hatin on their own countries makes. but oh well i guess cause it will never stop. plus i think the new taurus is tight, have you ever driven any of the old taurus's? they ****in move dude lol. i dont even wanna know how fast granny can go now in her new taurus, lol

omg gimma that truck, dude the new f150s are ****in ***** lala land, so much room! i gotta powerstroke and i bet they have more room if not as much room as i do lol, gotta love the king ranch they're so effin' delightful!

*nod* Agreed. They are trying to make the Taurus more luxurious. It may work, but the thought of a Taurus as a luxury is just a hard sell. Ford would have been better off just giving it a new name.

Although I do really like the Hyundai Genesis and the V6 is less than the 37 tag on the Taurus. Honestly you could get an accord or low end BMW.
