2010 Focus Coupe SE

Hi, new to the forums. And also new to working on car audio. I have a 2010 Ford Focus 2Dr, everything was stock audio except I replaced the front and back with new speakers yesterday (Kicker KS68). I am looking to add an amp and sub into the mix while trying to do all of this by myself. I am guessing that a 5 channel amp is going to be my best option? I'm not sure, or would two separate amps work better, one for the speakers and one for a sub?

Basically my questions are

1. What amp(s) to purchase. 4 Kicker 6-8s (KS68), and one sub (10-12"? im not sure what size i'm getting yet)

2. What exactly I need wiring wise? (with stock head unit 2010 ford)

3. How to connect the speakers to the amp?

4. How crazy am I trying this on my first install? haha (I've built computers before so i'm good at following instructions)

If anyone has any input for a noob like me it would be greatly appreciated.

Haha i have a 2008 ford focus SE. I mean its not all that hard to install your self. Just take your time with it and come on here to ask A LOT of questions. Have you got a new HU in it yet? There REALLY hard to put in ford focus'es that will be the hardest part IMO. I have stock speakers in my focus but i have 2 12 inch audioques running of a 1500 watt mb quart amp. Also im pretty sure you will need seperate amps one for the sub and one for the speakers.

Also im not sure what kind of sound your looking for but i started out with just 1 12 inch kicker cvr in a prefab ported box running off a 500 watt kenwood and it just wasnt enough for me.

Do I absolutely have to get a new HU for my car? Will it make everything else easier if I put one in? I know that I need one of the dash parts from Metra to make a HU fit.

And i'm not looking for anything crazy sound wise, just one sub most likely.

No you really dont need a new HU. It is recommended but you can use a line out converter instead. Thats what i used when i had my 12 inch cvr and it worked perfectly fine. However you will need 2 Line out converters since you are getting 2 amps (i think).Installing a new HU in a focus ( if it is anything like myn ) will cost an extra like 70 in parts.... kinda *****. This is how my dash looks so if yours is like this you will need new parts for a HU. Redirect Notice

Yeah I have the same exact dash as you. How do you like having an aftermarket HU in your focus vs. the stock? I like the clean look of the stock dash, if you have any pics of what yours looks like could you post them?

Well an aftermarket HU makes your stuff sound better. Made my stock door speakers sound clearer but the sub didnt sound any different. Also gives you more control over the sound and whatnot. Adds aux input and usb if you dont already have em. Heres my dash looks just as good IMO. The dash kit you have to buy replaces that whole silver part. (ignore the big black thing to the right of the HU its a GPS mount). Any ways hope i could help im not as educated on car audio as most of the other members. and for 10 or 12 inch sub def get a 12.

wiring wise you will need and amp wiring kit. Comes with your ground, power, rca, remote, and speaker wire. Power cord goes from the battery to the amp. remote goes from the back of the HU to the amp, speaker wire from the amp to the sub, ground goes from the chasis of the car (screw it into a metal part i can take a pic of where i put myn since we have same car) then the rca will go from the HU to the amp ( if you get an aftermarket HU, with the stock one you plug in the line out converter into the HU then plug the rca's into that). IDK much at all about door speakers your gona have to ask someone else about that :/
