what's up guys. sold my tacoma and in the process of buying a new body style ram. but i can't find any box designs at all. best one i found is an upfiring into the bottom of the rear seats for 8" 10" 12" woofers. but 12's are out bc the mountind depth is horrifying and so is the airspace. looking at .60 per chamber i was thinking about buying the pre fab and re doing it and making any improvements i can as of glassing the inside and adding some polyfill. think 8's are my best shot or 10's? looking for the best setup with what i have to work with.

heres the link to the box. 2002-2009 Dodge Ram Quad Cab 2-12'' Sub Box - Car Audio Factory -

I went with a thunderform and am gonna make some plates to raise speakers as the edge is shallow on the thunderform. I went with 2 new Kappa 10's. you might can find a empty one like i did.. $80

then do this test: sit your happy @ss in the driver seat with seat in your favorite position. get your friend in the back seat with a tape measure. adjust your rear-view mirror to where the bottom of the mirror is even with the top of your tailgate (in upright and locked position). have your buddy hold the tape measure, pointing up and slowly extending the tip until it is even with the top of the tailgate (to you, looking in the rear view mirror). tell him to stop there and tell you just how far above the rear seat-back the tip is. 3", 3.5"...whatever. that is how far you can raise the seat and seatbelts before the seat becomes an visual obstruction.

i'm not condoning the commonly practiced theory of "air space is just air space", but if you are looking to get some bottom end out of the vehicle, more air space will certainly get you their easier than less.

I'm currently setting everything up and gathering items before I even start to install anything.. I'm still a few months out. I'm going to do a little custom work with thunderform as mtx rims are small and kappa are wider. I have to build some rings to raise the speakers up to mount to a flat surface...

i'll do that nuthugger. about my only option and true. more air space solves more problems than equipment setups sometimes. and keep me posted drag street, what woofers and setups are you running?
