Any gamers in the house ?

I built my PC in 2007,its OK but cant keep up with some of the new games

Esp BlackOps.......Im thinking my EVGA 8800GTS Vid Card is just plain too old

I use an Gygabyte N650SLI Motherboard,OCZ 4Gig of Memory and I have a

Intel Core Duo E6850 w 700W powersupply

Anyone tell advise me on what vid cards to shop and or any other suggestions

to get this 3 year old heap get better graphics QLTY

Yea def I mean u could get a mean machine for say around 500-600 I forget which i7 it is but there is one for around 3-400 and one of the vid catds they posted earlier will do ya just fine

I would start with the CPU and more ram then vid card
I would recommend i7 or i5 if ur on a budget and I recommend atleast 6 gigs of ram
doubt he wants to spend money on a completely new build. He would have to get a new board, new ram, and all the other goodies to run an i5 or i7. The GTX 470 is pretty nice card. The 5770 is nice as well, however if you like to do video editing/rendering, than I suggest you spend a little more for the GTX 470. But if your just going to game, than the 5770 and 470 are both great choices. Yes your cpu is not the greatest, you may loose a few frames, especially if its not oced, but you should be fine running black ops in full on a 470 or 5770. I'm still running my Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 oc'ed to 3.5ghz and its fine. Sure in benchmarks the i7 beats it, and i do loose some fps but just not worth me spending $280 on a new cpu, plus another couple hundred for a nice board with an i7 socket.

You wont really find that mean of a machine for $500-$600, unless you get it on a really good sale. You wont find a nice machine for $300-$400, especially if you build it, the i7 alone is $280. You can build a nice machine for say $1,000, but not for $500 if you count up all the little things you need. Ram isn't cheap now a days either.

I was saying he wouldnonly have to change a few pieces to get a good machine for 500 and I disagree with even 5000 back when I was interested in computers and stuff I was going to build one with a amd black edition for around 600 and that would have been one beast of a system
