Hello All ,

I'm a newbie here and I wanted to get some advice. I recently add a small system to my truck. Boss Navigation head unit w/backup cam. 2 kicker 10"compS, Kicker CXA600.1 amp and Kicker Comps 6.5 door speakers. The system sounds awesome, but I'm running into an issue with my battery losing power. When I start riding a round IM a little over 14v, after playing the system I'm below and I turn the radio and bass down to let the batter charge some. I have Factory Alt. and the biggest battery Auto zone sells for my truck.

I was thinking of adding the Audio capacitor to the system to see if that would help. But after reading and surfing lots of peps say not to add the cap. but to do the BIG 3 first with 0 gauge wire. Then maybe upgrade the ALt. and battery to a XS Power battery. besides the system I only plain to add maybe some led lights inside the truck. Any suggestions would help me out.

Thanks Mike

600 watts should not be straining your electrical system. I would do the big 3 with 1/0 or 4 gauge OFC power cable (welding cable works well), and also be sure that all of your grounds are sufficient (grounded to bare metal, preferably the frame)

One issue you might be having is that the PCM on your truck shuts off the alternator if it doesn't detect a load. Since the amp isn't something included on the truck from the factory, it doesn't detect the load from the amp. We sell a PCM bypass harness from USAlternators that makes your alternator charge at a constant 14.8 volts and tricks the PCM so that no charging system error is present. That should fix any electrical issues you have and they run $200. Let me know if you're interested - PM or email is the best way to get in contact

@ SounDriv I have the amp ground in the back close to the jack bolt (tallest one). I sanded it down to metal and used a sheet metal screw to hold it down. Should I move it or is that a good area? Also I was trying to see a picture of the harness you are talking about but I cant find any, just alternators.

@ adulbrich do you have your speakers behind the seat or under? I have mine behind and I notice that my speakers are rubbing against the back of the seats. I might have to change boxes. I drilled a little whole for the jack bolt so the box will sit flush. but I'm still getting rub marks ..//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif
