2007 Chevy Colorado Console Box

Here is a console box I'm building for a friend. These trucks don't have shite or space under the back seats and he didn't like that he couldn't fit legal sized envelopes in the console for storage, so I built a new console with a ported box for a Fosgate P1 10" that I got off Craigslist for near nothing.

It sounds pretty good for a low powered speaker. It's powered by a Powerbass 300.2 and I added a PxA-H100 processor to his Alpine CDA-9886 Head Unit.

This is the first decent sound system he's ever had in a vehicle and less than a week after I got this one in and playing, he was trying to figure out what kind of box I could do him for the back seat... with maybe a couple of 12s. Which of course won't be a problem because I ran 1/0 power wire and will be doing a big three in 1/0 as well.

I love to see a basshead in the making, and I knew this guy was gonna want more, because we're pretty good friends and he's heavy into music.

The box will be painted gloss gray to match the interior and I'll have the lid covered with vinyl that will be stitched down both sides with something like a light gray thread to make it show up better. I'll use buried neodymium magnets to hold it down and will put a power inverter in the truck with an AC outlet inside the console, along with a 12 volt outlet, the aux and USB inputs to the head unit, door activated LED lighting. It's also getting a remote start & security system. And eventually, a four channel amp and some better mids and highs.

It sounds very good for a small box on small power. He won't be doing any hair tricks, obviously, but it does play the lows better than I expected and it's more than just bass reinforcement.

Since I didn't have the freedom to adjust port length, the tuning is a little lower than what I modeled but all in all, it definitely turned out well.

Updated pics. Maybe a video of it playing soon. But again, don't expect hair tricks, lol...

We decided against gloss gray and went with gunmetal gray Plasti Dip cleared with Plasti Dip glossifier. It turned out looking remarkably like a vinyl cover.

Can you contact me about a box

Oh and, here's a little video of Dave's box in action. We've since upped his amp from a little 300 watt job to an Hfi-1500 and we've changed the speaker to a JBL GTO 1014. It wounds better now but still isn't a ground pounder, obviously... so we're about to build a back seat monster so he can make some real deebeez.

And it won't be hard to upgrade, because in keeping with my recommendations to everyone else, I ran 1/0 power wire even though it was a 300 watt amp.

Stick a decent d2 12" in that console box if it will fit on the hfi 1500.

Should get loud. Box looks awesome btw. You ever built one for under the rear seats of an ext cab? Looking to do 4 10s sealed.

Not enough volume or depth for a 12. Plus... he's thinking big now and the Hfi won't do what he's planning. But yeah, I've done plenty of under seat wedges.

And, I can build a sealed box for you too... if you promise not to tell anyone I did it. :)
