2005 Jaguar X-Type Radio replacement help...

So I've been looking through the forums for a few hours now. After searching other sites for a few days I still can not come up with a definitive answer. I recently inherited an 2005 Jag X-type with only a few thousand miles. However the factory radio/ cd player no longer works. That's ok with me because I cant connect my Iphone or play pandora and it doesnt even have GPS... So here is my problem. I read that a few people earlier has posted similar problems that wanted to change their head unit from factory to aftermarket. They were told to go to places like crutchfield, best buy or local stereo shops. I did all those. Crutchfield tells me that they do not carry any products that I would require to change my head unit. That includes wiring harness or dash kits. So Next I went to best buy. They told me that they didnt carry any products either. Furthermore they explained that my car was equipped with a factory amplifier and fiber optic cables. Next I stopped into a few local car stereo shops and they all explained to me that if I wanted to replace my factory head unit with an aftermarket head unit that I would have to purchase a lot of speaker wire, an amp as well as the head unit. After all that I would have to start ripping apart my car to run all the wires to the speakers. So I turned to the master of the interwebs "google". There I found a wiring harness as well as a dash kit. The wiring harness did not have any equipment that would allow me to utilize the factory amplifier or bypass it. So I would be putting an amplified signal into another amplified signal?! lol Thats not going to work. Now that you have read all that we finally get to my question. WHAT DO I DO? Can I simply buy a used or new factory dvd player with navigation, bluetooth and ipod interface? Or do I really have to replace all my speaker wire on top of probably purchasing another amp? OR.. is there another solution out there such as a real wiring harness that would allow me to connect an aftermarket head unit to my car?
