2003+ toyota corolla install dash kit?

i have a 2005 toyota corolla. i just removed the double DIN factory head unit and i am installing a jvc single DIN head unit. i bought this dash kit off ebay:

my question is, how is this installed? does it just snap into the dash over the head unit? i want to know because this dash kit won't arrive for another few days and i want to install the head unit now. will i just have to unmount the head unit again when i place this dash kit on it or can the head unit be already bolted down?

No, the head unit mounting cage is supposed to be installed in the trim ring. The trim ring is then bolted into the car, and the head unit slid in. am i understanding this correctly? the trim ring is part of the dash kit? so the HU cage is bolted to that part of it and then the whole dash kit is bolted to the dash. and then hu slides in?

Yep except , the hu is only supported by the mounting cage in them. Without using the factory brackets and screws. That's part of the reason I don't like them. With a tiny bit of trimming on the dash kit, you can still use your factory head unit mounts and bolt the head unit in. Then slide the trim panel over it in the car.

why is not using the factory mounts a problem? is the HU unstable or does it rattle or something?

ramos, I'm pretty certain that pic you posted is an 03 and up camry, not corolla. Corolla's dash's are diff.

As far as installing the radio, you won't be able to until the kit comes in. Mounting using the trim sleeve is fine. Make sure you snap the top/bottom tabs on that kit into the dash panel.

ok. i have the HU all hooked up and its working good. i have it just laying in the open gap. the kit should be here sometime early next week.
