2003 sierra dimming prob.

ive done the big 3, added an extra battery, and have a capacator.

the system is an eclipse 3200 head unit, 2 rockford p3s and a 1200 watt amp.

on to the problem..... when the volume is on about 10 it dims... its like a vairable lightbulb controll. as i turn up the volume the dash and headlamps dimm horribly..

but the head unit dosent dim at all????

do any of you have an idea, please help me

with your electrical and 1200 watts you shouldnt be dimming. (assuming your alt is fine.) Does your head unit have a "dimmer" wire? maybe it has something to do with it?? If so disconnect it and see what happens....

this is perplexing. This would suggest the head unit itself is powered adequately while the dash lights are being under-powered. so it shouldn't be an issue with the alt or batteries. there must be some issue with the head unit's wiring. Being an '03, there is a wiring adapter required to keep your door chime. Did you use one?

i ditched the cap yesterday..... and i used that expensive wireing harness you are talking about..

I am not sure why your head unit (if wired correctly) would not dim when your dash lights do. Your amp. How is it connected power wise?

what kind of amp is it? can you try a more efficient, less current hungry amp?

the amp is connected straight to the extra battery.....grounded under the seat. with an in-line fuze

amp is a sony xplode 1500 watt

grounded under the seat where????? That's more than likely your problem. Bad ground.

on the seat bracket. bolt that runs through the cab... big main one that anchors the seat to the floor. i sanded it really good though

do the lights dim with the head unit/system turned off? also you should move the ground to the body or frame.

now the radio goes off when the bass hitts and comes back on.... it resets itself. i changed the amp aux output to the low one.... there are about three different outputs for various other crap
