So I am putting a xfl 15" in my trunk and i would prefer to not fir the sub up. I know the max height of the trunk opening with the backseat removed is 13.5". Could i cut a inch and a half to get the 15" for the sub without doing structural damage?

Heres a pic of the opening with the seat removed.

I cut mine to 15 1/4".... there is enough non-structural material there you can remove. If you cut this much, you will need to be careful not to remove all the material around the bolts that mount the upper portion of the seat... kind of the headrest area.

I am guessing you are talking about the top mounting bolts for the headrest? If so, the bolts are just above where I cut. If you are speaking of rear deck speakers... my car had the Mach Audio system... I removed it all, so no clearance issues at all. I used a cut off wheel in my air powered cut off tool.
