Hi guys. I recently got a 2001 honda civic lx, and this thing's stereo is beat. Here's what we have to work with. The fronts are 6 1/2" and back are 6 x 9", at least that's what it looks like and crutchfield says
. The stereo is bone stock. I don't know much about car stereos but I have been reading stuff that makes me think I should get an amp, speakers, and a head unit separately. I was looking at the JBL power series 6 1/2 shallow mount speakers and the JBL power 6x9's. I'm kind of partial to JBL's because of my home speakers, but I am not experienced with car stereo's i the least. I'm looking to spend around 500-600 on speakers/amp/headunit. I'm not looking into subs at the moment because as you know the civic is a small car and I need to fit my paintball/hockey/snowboard gear in it.
Things im looking for great crisp highs and ability to crank the volume without distortion. Bass is nice which is why I'd like to get a nice range on the 6x9's. I'm not sure what I can fit in the 6 1/2 spot so i think comp's might be out of the question. With a head unit I just want a cd spot, mp3 cd capability and an input line I can hook an mp3 player to. Basically just a good thing to input to the amp.
Anyways hook me up guys. From what i've read you guys know your stuff
Thank for any help you can give me
