Hello all, back for more with a new to us 2000 Wrangler with 44,000 original miles. Plan on full deadening treatment of the tub, doors and hardtop. Keeping it single din, as I don’t want to cut anything in the dash.

Looking for solutions to get the mid and tweet up around the dash / a pillar area. Factory speaker locations in these wranglers aren’t great.

I was thinking about running a 5.25 in thw factory “knee area”, and a 3/1” up higher. For now I’ll be using the leftover crossovers that I didn’t use in my Ram build. Probably won’t do a DSP in the wrangler, as the juice isn’t likely worth the squeeze.

May try one of CDT audio’s new subs on the build and probably leave the overhead soundbar empty, as the position is not great shooting down on your head. So just the 3-way components up front and a sub in the rear.

Thanks for any input!

  1. Okay
I have a few ideas all involving a small subwoofer in the back:

1. 1” silk dome tweeter on dash, 4” mid in knee area, 6.7” mid bass woofer in overhead sound bar.

2. 1” silk dome tweeter and 3” mid on dash, 5.25” mid woofer in knee area, abandon overhead sound bar.

3. 1” silk dome tweeter and 3” mid on dash, 5.25” mid woofer in knee area, 6.7” mid bass woofer in overhead sound bar.

Really, there are many combinations, but I’m not sure if using the overhead sound bar will just muddy things up…

Q-form should have kickpanels for that era Jeep. I use them in my Grand Cherokee and have used them in other vehicles. They're simple, effective, and have a factory fit and finish.
According to the website, they don’t work with a manual transmission. I can see why. The footwell is already fairly cramped. Add a clutch pedal and a kick panel 6.5…

You can always see if glassing in a pod is doable

You'll get better midbass from the kicks than from the soundbar location

It’s settled. I purchased my speakers from CDT again, because my ram sounds great. Took it a step further and also decided to try one of their 10” subs as well.

Front three ways will consist of ES-5s in the lower dash area and an ES-03 / ES-1200is in a 3d printed enclosure up on the dash / a pillar area. I will be designing and printing that myself, as we just picked up a Bambu Lab X1C printer. I will also be building an enclosure for the QEX-1000sq.

Head unit is a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X705. Amp is an Audison SR 6.600 that’ll be run 2x280w at 4 ohm and 1x600w at 2 ohm. Just using the CDT 3-way crossovers for now. May decide to go full active at a later date.

First day really messing around with free cad. I made a generic 90 degree corner enclosure for a 3” and 1” component speaker combo.

Ran it in the slicer just out of curiosity and found out I would require 250g of filament. Then I played around with a different wall profile to reduce thickness to 5mm.

Very interesting to mess with and I see a lot of potential for my uses. These are clunky designs that are not tailored to the specific angles where the A pillar meets the dash, but I will refine them as I dig deeper into the software.
