2 XXX's Set up

You think the XXX is overrated in almost all aspects... like in what way? If you mean in its specs, I assure you it isn't. If you mean by reputation, well that's just your opinion versus theirs I guess. Quite frankly, the Rl-P gets its fair share of message board hype as well, I really dont see the relevance one way or the other.

i mean by both rep and specs. and in all honesty, both are just my opinion..

paper specs are one thing, real world performance, something else. when i owned my xxx, if u remember or want to look it up, i ran it side by side the rl-p. same boxes (one designed for the rl-p, one for the xxx), same vehicles (my truck and my wife's car) and a couple different power levels (750wrms [all re fans cried foul, said it needed alot more power] 1200 wrms and 2500wrms[i acquired my orion just because of this]) IMO, performance was so close as to be almost even, the rl-p got quite a bit lower in the sealed box, but when u factor in cost and customer service, the rl-p was a clear winner.

now am i saying the xxx sucks? no, not by a long shot. it was clean and it was loud. it was a lil weak in a larger then recommended sealed box, but other then that was a fine woofer. neither it nor the rl-p wanted anything to do with 2500wrms in 2ft^3 ported.

no, what i'm saying that is for all the hype it got, it didn't perform the way it should. and i'm not hte only one to have felt that way. go to re's forum at SIN, there are a few reviews that almost mirror mine.

also, i bought my rl-p long before the SS hype broke loose. i'm partly responsible for it's hype, but the fact that mike is such an excellent person to deal with, who happens to carry a sweet product at a great price, sealed the deal.

again, i'm not saying the xxx was a bad sub, by all accounts it performed really well. i like it, but just like the w7, there are subs available that can indeed run with it (including re's own sx by most accounts) and they cost quite a bit less.

I certainly dont want to get into it all here, and Im certainly not saying you are not entitled to your opinion, but I dont find saying the XXX is overrated in every aspect just because you preferred the Rl-P is an accurate statement. As Ive said before, the XXX output's less distortion and has more linear displacement. So in theory it should have no problem getting louder while outputting less distortion (I wont say 'sound better' because some people prefer the added distortion of non-BL-optimized drivers... and I wont say they are 'wrong'). *shrug* But I will point out the facts.

Again mrray, we've talked about this before. Im sure my position is no surprise to you.
